Carolyn's Art All Artists Showroom

Text Box: Carolyn grew up in Manchester Connecticut coming to Boston after college.  Her stepmother was a well known artist in the Baltimore area whom she learned a lot from. She was inspired with great stories about her mother’s studies with Morris Lewis
The simplicity and spirituality of the animals dancing to life in the cave paintings in France and a little Neolithic pot in an Asian museum in London had a profound effect on her. After doing further research on these ancient cooking vessels she was moved to begin her series she calls "Spirit Vessels".
Her approach to watercolor is to find a balance between controlling what is going on and allowing the unexpected to happen. I use a lot of water, big flat brushes, salt for texture, a hair dryer for moving the paint around and wonderful mineral paints from Daniel Smith.
